You will find below questions which we are regularly asked concerning both stairlifts and vertical lifts.
We hope that the answers provided are helpful but if you need further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
Question I would like to talk to a representative but I am concerned that I will then
be 'pestered' to buy a stairlift. Will this happen?
Answer If you ask us to call and advise on the feasibility of a stairlift, we will
arrange to visit at a time convenient to you. Once we have discussed all the possibilities
we will send you a written quotation and then it is up to you. We will not contact you
again unless you ask us to.
Question My stairs are straight but there is one step to the left at the top of
the main flight. Can a straight rail stairlift be fitted?
Answer There are several possible solutions where a straight rail stairlift
can be fitted in this situation. Firstly, the stairlift can be fitted to cover the main
flight leaving the one step at the top to climb. Alternatively, a simple alteration to the
stairs may be possible adding one step to the main flight and eliminating the one step to
the left at the top. The stairlift can then be installed to cover the whole flight.
Question My stairs are only 27 inches wide (685mm). Is this wide enough to
have a stairlift fitted?
Answer This width is adaquate for a straight rail stairlift to be fitted but
the size of the person using the stairlift must also be taken into account. Our representative
would advise on this during his survey visit.
Question My stairs have 6 steps then a corner and another 7 steps. Can a stairlift be fitted?
Answer This staircase would normally require a curved rail type stairlift. The stairlift
rail would be custom made to suit the stairs. Most stairs can be accomodated even spirals. In a very
few cases two seperate straight rail stairlifts can be fitted which is a more economical solution but
involves the user transferring from one stairlift to the other between flights.
